St Mungo’s and KS2 will be hosting a public event to enable providers of mental health services in BaNES to discuss feedback with people affected by mental health issues and how service delivery is and can be developed to address local needs.  The event will include short presentations from commissioners and providers of local mental health services and group discussions on what is important for service users and carers.

The topics of the group discussions will be informed by a mental health questionnaire which you can complete here

'Whats Going On' Event Aim:

To enable people affected by mental health issues to meet and have useful discussions with commissioners and providers of mental health services in BANES.

To have current and past service users, carers and supporters, and representatives from BaNES teams attend the event. Anyone taking part in the mental health questionnaire or focus groups, which will inform the discussion areas, are encouraged to attend

Outcomes:

  • Participants understand what is happening or planned for mental health delivery in BaNES

  • Open and honest discussions between commissioners/providers, people with lived experience and the people who support them about the current and future mental health services in BaNES

  • Service users and carers (supporters), feel valued, being able to utilising their lived experience in providing useful feedback

  • The production of a mini report, shortly after the event

What’s Gone Before:

Over ninety service users and carers attended the ‘What’s Going On’ events held in May 2015 & Feb 2019. These were put on by Carers group KS2 with support from St Mungo's, AWP and other mental health organisations. At the event we heard directly from mental health commissioners in BANES, the Chief Executive and Directors of AWP, along with other mental health service leads. Service commissioners and leads then moved between tables, each discussing a different topic;

  • Client and carer involvement

  • Crisis and Risk Management

  • Positive Transitions

  • Joined up support

  • Working together

  • Prevention
